Tax credits: childcare support

There are two tax credits – child tax credit and working tax credit. You can get one or both of them, depending on your household circumstances. HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) deal with tax credits. Working tax credit includes an element to help with certain childcare costs.

Free childcare places

You can get some free childcare places in most parts of the UK, although the arrangements are different across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. You can contact your local Family Information Service for more information about free childcare hours and childcare in your area.

Employer-supported childcare
