Free umbrella company payslip audit

This service is available to workers in the UK who want to understand if their umbrella company is dealing with their pay and taxes correctly.  

If you would like to request a free payslip audit, you must read our guidance explaining the service. You can then request a SafeRec payslip audit by completing a few details, ticking the box accepting the terms and conditions and uploading anonymised copies of a recent payslip and contractor reconciliation statement. These usually appear on the same document, as per the example in our factsheet.

If the document you upload does not contain the pay and tax information required to be able to proceed, we will let you know by email as soon as possible.  

  In all cases, before uploading the payslip, you must redact (cover or delete) any identifying information e.g. your name and address and umbrella’s name and address, as well as any sensitive or confidential information, such as your National Insurance number and bank account details. If you do not do this, we will delete the payslip immediately and will send you an email asking you to resubmit it.

Terms and conditions (you must read and accept these before submitting a payslip)

•    In these terms and conditions – ‘you’ means the individual who submits their payslip through the online form on the LITRG website and ‘we’ means the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) team who are part of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.  
•    You confirm you are uploading your own payslip and you are not uploading payslips belonging to others. 
•    You have redacted (covered or deleted) any identifying, sensitive and confidential information. 
•    You accept that in order to provide the free payslip audit you have requested, we will need to collect and process your personal data, payslip and the payslip audit results. We need your personal data, which is your email address only, in order to communicate with you about the audit and send you the results. This personal data will not be shared with anyone outside of our organisation and will not be used for any purpose other than communicating with you about the payslip audit and providing the results. We will share your anonymised payslip with SafeRec.   
•    You accept that we may use your anonymised payslip and payslip audit result in furtherance of our work – for example to look for trends and patterns in umbrella company practices. 
•    You accept that the payslip audit report is provided by a third-party company (SafeRec). Your anonymised payslip will be uploaded into SafeRec’s software. You confirm that you have read SafeRec’s terms and conditions and data processing policies. 
•    We cannot take responsibility for SafeRec's practices or guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the payslip audit and report. As such, you will not hold CIOT (of which LITRG are part) liable for any claims, damages or liabilities arising from the use of the payslip auditing service.  
•    Your results will be delivered by email to the email address provided on the form. You accept there are risks in sending documents via email, for example, they may get intercepted. 
•    We cannot offer any comment or advice about the results nor enter into any discussion about the results. We do not endorse any of the information in the report. 
•    You accept that the results are for information purposes only. The results provide some guidance that may be helpful in understanding more about your payslip and may highlight areas that require some further checking or follow-up. The results do not provide a guarantee that your umbrella company is fully compliant with the law. 
•    You agree you will not take action or refrain from taking action based on the results without doing getting some specific professional advice about your individual circumstances. 
•    We reserve the right to discontinue offering the payslip auditing service at any time without prior notice. 
•    You understand that although we will aim to return the results to you within 7 working days, this may not always be possible. If for any reason we are unable to provide you with a payslip audit, we will let you know via email. 
•    In addition, just as with anyone using our website and facilities, it is important to read the small print and disclaimer
